Jared Higgins is a violinist and private music instructor based in Frederick, MD. Trained as a classical violinist, Jared incorporates a unique Fusion-style into his playing which blends a variety of musical styles and genres. He graduated with a B.A. in Violin Performance from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Jared works as a freelance violinist and offers his services as a performer, session artist, and private instructor for both violin and viola.
Jared began studying the violin at the age of 10 and performed throughout high school as a member of both the Frederick Regional Youth Orchestra and the Frederick Symphony Orchestra. In 2012, Jared soloed with the Frederick Regional Youth Orchestra, after winning their annual concerto competition.
Jared studied violin performance at the University of Maryland Baltimore County from 2012-2016, under the tutelage of Dr. Airi Yoshioka and Dr. Christian Tremblay. As a student at UMBC, Jared performed with their Symphonic Orchestra as well as with several string ensembles. While at UMBC, Jared became interested in music pedagogy. During his studies, Jared interned as an assistant teacher with the Baltimore Symphony’s OrchKids program, which focused on bringing orchestral music programs to elementary-grade students in Baltimore.
Currently, Jared maintains a private music studio for violin and viola students in Montgomery County, MD. His unique teaching style seeks to develop musicality, technical skills, and a passion for music through a variety of musical genres. Jared also offers services as a performer for weddings, professional events, cocktail hours, recording sessions and worship services.
